The European Commission has allocated an additional €25.5 million for humanitarian funding in several African countries over the past year.
Additional funds will be used to strengthen key sectors such as social protection systems and food aid, among others. nutrition; and water, sanitation, and hygiene. Funds are also being provided to support newly displaced people and host communities in conflict areas.
Funds will be distributed as follows:
Algeria: €2 million
Cameroon: €2 million
Central African Republic: €4 million
Chad: €2 million
Sudan: €10 million
Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean: €5.5 million
